Astrological Weather Report

There are multiple versions of the birth chart of the United States. Mostly hearsay, little actual data establish the “true” date and time of our country’s birthday. I use the date and time when we declared war against our mother country and ceased being colonies. Not everyone agrees with that. What all the charts do share is a date in early July. A full moon occurs at 11° Capricorn 18’ as North Americans begin to celebrate their national birthday. Full moons are release points and manifestations. Any police force will tell you things can get dicey at a full moon.

The Moon is conjunct Jupiter’s south node. The Cancer Sun conjoins Jupiter’s north node and Mercury. The issues that swirl through our current zeitgeist revolve around ancestral patterning and security. At the core are ideas that force-feed beliefs. Personal truths are acted out with self-appointed legitimacy.

This lunation brings into focus what is collectively held captive from the past, bigotry, misogyny, patriarchy, and racial intolerance. The United States was born in bloodshed. The last pinnacle of this bellicose behavior occurred as neighbors took up arms against neighbors during the American Civil War. More fathers, brothers, and sons died at Gettysburg than on D-Day. This inherent aberrant behavior has recently splintered and spread as gun violence which used to be random and sporadic and is in the news almost daily.

Saturn in Pisces rules this full moon. Self-authorized emotions run wild. Boundaries are crossed. 

Neptune underscores Saturn’s self-importance by releasing the furies of collective beliefs. Neptune just turned retrograde and is standing still in the sky, drilling down like the Sun through a magnifying glass, igniting emotional fevers that have spilled over into the streets.

Mars, Venus, and asteroid Pallas Athene, all in extremely close company, are in self-actualizing Leo and are generating personal strategies that act out individualized agendas. 

Jupiter, the planet that tends to blow things way out of proportion, is in a favorable relationship with the Moon at the core of the emotional tidal wave.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, “The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the male deer (bucks) antlers are in full growth mode. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years pass.” We could see the street littered with many spent antlers by the time this holiday ends. 

Please, be safe, be patient, and do what my grandmother always cautioned me to do. Look both ways at every intersection.

On June 30^th, 2023, the big blue planet Neptune stood still at 28° Pisces and began to move backward through the sky. It will remain in this retrograde condition for the rest of this year, turning direct again on December 6^th at 25° Pisces. 

Astrologically the planet named for the king of the waters, on land and sea, is recognized for intuition as well as dementia, dreams and waking nightmares, forgiveness, compassion, unconditional love, and betrayal. Neptune correlates to the beliefs that we share collectively with others, the collective unconscious. 

It is the archetype that correlates to our consciousness, or lack thereof. Everything in the Universe is conscious; minerals, plants, animals, and people. Consciousness, like the water element to correlate to, takes the shape and form of whatever it enters. In rocks and minerals, it manifests as crystal emanations. Plants are the source of all the pharmaceuticals we need for survival. The plants know they are here to help us and silently endure so all species can survive. Animals know that they are here as our helpers, partners, and companions. The plants eat the minerals. The animals eat the plants. We eat the plants and the animals… some of us.

There are two essential qualities of water. The first is that water must fill up every space it passes through before it can move on. The second is that water dissolves anything it encounters, either slowly in small drips or rapidly in a torrent. Someone once suggested that a cataclysmic geological torrent formed the Grand Canyon in minutes—just some food for thought.

Neptune rules Pisces, the culmination of the evolution of consciousness through the water signs. In Cancer, through our lunar experiences, we see ourselves. In Scorpio, we descend into the underworld of the subconscious repository of our wounds, failures, and disappointments to find a new basis for understanding why these experiences occurred. Pluto helps us release the emotional corpses we carry and reintegrate those experiences into whom we are becoming. In Pisces and through the dynamics of Neptune, we cleanse ourselves completing the Ensō that is of our lives and prepare for renewal.

This six-month cycle is formatted by a Sagittarian Moon in a compatible trine to Neptune, which can lift our spirits. Our collective dream is of a world connected to the natural world, free of hatred, pestilence, and ignorance. 

At this station, Neptune approaching the last degrees of its native sign of Pisces, anchors a bond between Pluto and star maiden asteroid Astraea. Pluto is re-experiencing unresolved lessons about the responsibilities that come with power. Astraea is concerned with justice and fairness, law and order. She has been called “Neptune’s storyteller.” Unlike her cousin Eris, Astraea is not grounded. She has her head in the clouds. She is non-confrontational and would rather withdraw then engage in conflict.

Neptune forms a waning inconjunct with her sister Pallas Athene in Leo. We are getting active downloads of new ways to grow by making life-changing course corrections.  

Minor planet Ceres, in the early degrees of Libra, separates from opposition to Neptune. We are encouraged to nurture ourselves by nurturing others. 

Some minor crises predicate change due to Mars applying a balsamic conjunction to Pallas Athene. Mars is also sesquisquare to Neptune. Our choices can be more compassionate and less self-centered. 

In short, we are “dreaming the impossible dream”, but not the way we expected it to go.

The Peace of Wild Things

Over the next 7 days, a Gemini New Moon occurs and then joins the Sun at its greatest maximum to mark the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year. Both of these astral events are starting points. One marks the next monthly cycle, and the other marks the beginning of a seasonal cycle. In the Northern Hemisphere, Summer begins. The newly found verdant world begins to bear fruit, whispering the promise of an abundance to come. In the Southern Hemisphere, Winter sends Terran fertility inward to rest and restore in preparation for its scheduled return.  

The new moon occurs at 26° Gemini 43’ on June 18 at 12:37 am EDT. The solstice will occur on June 21, marking the Sun’s entry into the cardinal sign of Cancer on June 21 at 10:57 am EDT. 

Gemini is about what we know or perhaps what we think we know. We are submerged in a data-saturated world. It is hard to tell whether truth or lies are more elusive. Opinions are presented as fact. Facts are reduced to an opinion. With Jupiter and Uranus both in sometimes bull-y Taurus, there is much castling and hunkering down. 

The Sun anchors a grand trine applying to a last quarter (waxing) share to the Lunar South Node and separating from a first quarter (waning) trine to health advocate asteroid Hygeia. Something from the past lingers, unfinished but loaded with potential. Localized epidemics threaten to rebound elsewhere. The learned experiences of the past offer multiple pathways forward. 

Mars is under Venus’s sway as she approaches him from behind, whispering in his ear. Is she murmuring sweet nothings or veiled ultimatums? New priorities are on the table. New choices are under consideration. New commitments are possible with asteroid Juno’s urging.

Maternal Divinity Ceres in the early degrees of Libra separates from a full phase opposition to elusive Neptune in Pisces. The Sun separates from a last quarter (waxing) square to Neptune. The Sun applies to a last quarter (waning) square to Ceres. 

An inconjunct tightening from the Sun to Pluto, retrograde for the last time into Capricorn, underscores both events. Self-empowerment is re-infused with self-authority. The social and political tremors show no hint of receding. Gaia is re-awakening from a long period of tolerance and restraint. Nature is actively at work to heal itself. We are in crisis with our Planetary Mother. She reveals the chthonic place within herself and us. This current sequence of astral events are her messengers.  

Venus separates from a partile (exact) semisquare to Venus in Leo at the new moon and the solstice. Venus is about our values and priorities. In Leo, they are formatting how we are currently self-actualizing. The current alliance of Venus and Mars actively inhabits our moment-to-moment, day-to-day choices. Ask yourself, “What is the right thing to do?” The correct answer will save a lot of צרות tsrus (trouble) later on. 

The Sun applies to a partile semi-sextile to Vesta in Taurus and the new moon and separates from Vesta at the solstice. Finding our authenticity requires self-expression. Consensus works very well in telling us not to hurt others and to stop at red lights. But most of our other choices should come from the heart. 

Saturn in Pisces is stationed retrograde at the New Moon. By early November, it will retreat to 0° Pisces before turning direct again. In my Astrological Weather Report for Saturn in Pisces, I wrote:

“Saturn has been churning the winds of change in Aquarius since the end of 2020. Since then, the worldwide spread of COVID-19 and its self-mutating variants have shattered our sense of normalcy. In the United States, the Capitol Riot and exposure of malfeasance at the highest level of government has politically splintered the nation. Europe has been drawn to the precipice of nuclear confrontation in Ukraine. In Asia, an active Chinese agenda is attempting to reset the balance of power in the region. We have witnessed a much different world emerge in the last three years.”

Saturn is the law of the land. We have begun to see the dominoes fall for Donald Trump. Over the balance of this year, this legal process will progress and possibly conclude. 

In the US Chart, 

• transiting Saturn is squaring the Jupiter-Neptune in Gemini conjunction in the US 9^th House of Jurisprudence and the court system. This conjunction also refers to the religious life of the US. 
• Saturn trines US 10^th House Sun in Cancer. The Presidency is under political pressure from more than one direction. 
• US Saturn forms a tight crisis-laden inconjunct to 11^th House US Mercury, ruler of the US ninth house. This also places pressure on the media as well as the court system.
• Saturn sextiles rogue personality US Eris. I cringe at the thought of continued gun violence, nuclear catastrophe, or insurrection.
• Saturn sesquisquares 1^st House US Moon in Libra, predicting general turbulence for the US population. 

The Cancer Sun applies to a disseminating trine to Saturn at the solstice. If we live in warmer climates, the outdoors offers opportunities to merge with the natural world. In the Southern Hemisphere, If winter sports are not your thing, use this coming season to nurture yourself with healthy food and good friends and family.

At 7:46 am MDT today, June 5, 2023, Venus entered the Sun’s sign of Leo. This Venusian ingress holds significant density. At the ingress, the planet of relationship to others and ourselves stood exactly opposite Pluto retrograde in Aquarius. This planetary opposition was in a tight 90° square aspect to the lunar nodes in Taurus and Scorpio. When a planet or planets square the lunar nodes, in Evolutionary Astrology, this is known as a “skipped step.” Some process necessary for evolution has been denied or avoided.

A fixed grand cross is drawn in the sky. A grand cross is a condition that is “locked and loaded.” There is a build-up of energy that necessitates release. In fixed signs, this condition is especially challenging. Pluto carries the karmic signature of the Soul’s evolutionary intention. The lunar nodes are the karmic/evolutionary trajectory, the pathway from the past to the future. The action point is the Moon, in this case, the Moon in Capricorn. Capricorn is about taking responsibility and creating a viable structure. The Moon forms a tight crisis aspect to Venus, requiring an adjustment, a course change. The intensity of the moment cannot endure. Something has to give.

At the ingress, the archetypal patterning is compacted. Venus is the ruler of the Lunar North Node. Pluto is the ruler of the Lunar South Node. Uranus rules Pluto in Aquarius in Taurus, which is, in turn, ruled by Venus. A crisis-laden square from Venus to rogue personality Eris adds additional complications. An out-of-sign trine from Venus to Neptune does little to clarify the situation. Venus applies to a conjunction to Mars, also in Leo.

We have all been feeling this pressure for quite some time. This celestial moment accentuates the issues and suggests a different pathway forward. Venus is about what is essential to our happiness and our survival. It correlates to our values and their resulting priorities. We are being made aware of what is truly important. Leo is the second phase of the self-actualization process. We have an innate sense of ourselves and express it naturally in the world. But does that sense of self express our authentic personal values, or is it driven by the need to conform to consensus reality?

Pluto holds the missives of our Soul’s deepest need for security and hands them off to Mars for expression. Are our choices aligned with what we need to be happy and thrive?

The inconvenient truth is that we will continue to experience personal and collective crises if our choices and priorities are not aligned with Soul’s intention. No one is saying that this is easy. It is actually the baseline of our evolutionary path. But if Earth is a Soul School, we are all on the same path, though not necessarily at the same mile marker.

On June 3^rd, a Full Moon at 13° Sagittarius 18’ illuminates the sky at 11:41 pm EDT. The archetype of Sagittarius links us to that which is greater than ourselves. Sagittarius is higher learning in every sense of the word. Its restless wanderlust takes us on long journeys and pilgrimages in the search for truth, albeit often a personal truth. Sagittarius is shamanism and natural law. It is often the shaman, the guru, and can also be the silver-tongued devil. 

The Moon correlates to our self-image, our ego, and how we see ourselves. This lunation will take us on an inner journey to revisit or rediscover our individuality and authenticity as the Sun travels with asteroid Vesta and ground shaker Uranus.

Jupiter, the planet said to rule Sagittarius, is in close company with the Lunar North Node in Taurus. Sagittarius is the final stage of self-actualization. Our vision of the future is expanded as if a telescope is held up and it can see the future. It is our future self that is the object of our attention. Whom are we becoming? What is the “mise en scène,” the setting of our future selves? If you were to write a play about yourself that takes place five years in the future, where would you be living? What would you be doing? Who would be there with you? Your higher mind has these answers. Let that part of yourself be the chooser.

Pluto’s 20+ year-long transit through Aquarius portends a radical transformation of the world around us directed by the planet of becoming Uranus. We are just at the incipient stage of that journey. This lunation opens the door to let in a sliver of light of what is to come. What is the future you are dreaming? Awaken to that dream.

Jupiter ingress Taurus

On May 16, 2023, Jupiter begins its year-long transit and joins the cavalcade of planets in Venusian Taurus. Venus rules two signs of the zodiac. Her outer Yang rulership is expressed through the sign of Libra. Her inner Yin rulership is told through the sign of Taurus. Libra brings us into a relationship with others. Taurus brings us into a relationship with ourselves. Venus’s inner expression in Taurus indicates that the next 12 months should be focused on our self-love, self-development, self-nurturing, and self-forgiveness.

Jupiter forms a crisis-laden square to Pluto, which perfects only one day after the ingress. An entire spectrum of expression can and will generate crises related but not limited to:

• Rash, erratic and rebellious behavior
• Grandiosity 
• Self-importance
• Preachiness
• Stubborn adherence to conditioned emotional reflexes.

On the positive side, it can produce:

• Making more intelligent and grounded choices.
• Recognizing the necessity and benefits of self-care.
• Positive lifestyle changes.
• Being more caring and nurturing.

As Jupiter aligns with the nodal axis, a grand cross is drawn in the sky. 

• The Lunar South Node conjoins Jupiter. 
• Jupiter opposes the Lunar North Node. 
• Jupiter conjoins Eris and squares Mars. 
• Pluto opposes Mars. 

The Lunar Nodes are slowly moving into orb of a square with Pluto. This condition is known in Evolutionary Astrology as a “skipped step.” Something from the past has been neglected, skipped over, and left unresolved, impacting the frictionless unfolding of the future. This condition will persist for the rest of 2023, finally moving out of orb in January next year. A significant shift to this karmic dynamic will occur in mid-July as the lunar nodes shift into Aries and Libra. The Jupiter-Pluto square is a prelude to deeper work on who we are becoming individually and collectively, what we attract, and our relationship to everything and everyone around us. 

A magnifying glass is focused on the past. A kaleidoscope peers into the future. Cognitive faculties are sharpened. A banner is held high for justice. A high volume of difficult conversations with ourselves and others and news media saturates our immediate and collective world. We are challenged to distill our immediate wants and desires into what is essential. The airwaves will be filled with disturbing reports of random gun violence, violent weather, and many versions of individualized misbehavior. Personal authenticity runs the gamut from benevolent to non-conformist to lawless. 

There is a sense that things have gone out of balance and are headed toward a critical breaking point. The basic magnetism that naturally bonds things together seems to have become bipolar. Health issues continue to simmer below the surface despite the pandemic receding. Random, self-centered acts of violence continue to punctuate the news.

Jupiter separates from a new phase conjunction to Eris in Aries. This current meetup will initiate restlessness and discord that can derail progress in the short run. It will shed light on the shadow material sequestered away in the hidden recesses of our psyches

and initiate a search for truth and a wider understanding of ourselves of our relationship with the world around us.

At the ingress, Jupiter is applying to balsamic conjunction to Uranus retrograde Taurus. This event will culminate next year on April 20, 2024. This conjunction last occurred three times in 2010-11. 

In those years: 

• Occupy Wall Street, a 59-day left-wing populist movement against economic inequality and the influence of money in politics.
• A nuclear disaster occurred at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. 
• Arab Spring Protests occurred as citizens in countries across the Middle East rose up against their governments. 
• Russia shut off all gas supplies to Europe.
• Hurricane Sandy devastates the US East Coast.
• Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut shooting.

Given the recent history of this decade, we should expect that Uranus will continue to till the ground beneath our feet, uprooting static old growth the seeding the future with earth-based collective intentions. 

The astrological themes that permeate this conjunction include:

• A more conscious focus on the important details of our lives. 
• The opportunities to make better choices are driven by necessity.
• A sacred commitment to personal values.
• Journeys into our personal underworlds.
• The increased need for proactive self-care.

Jupiter will station retrograde on September 4, 2023, at 15° Taurus 34’.  Taurus is fixed Earth energy. Its roots extend deep below the surface. 15° Taurus is the most self-willed point in the zodiacal wheel, unable to loosen its grip on what is known and tangible and begin to grasp the airy, mental, and non-physical nature of Gemini.

The balsamic dark of the Moon mystifies the retrograde moment. Knowledge seems shrouded and obscured. As Jupiter stations retrograde, it squares Venus in Leo, stationed direct. There is a push-me/pull-me effect, and an impulse is to press forward, perhaps without doing the necessary homework. Immediate wants and short-term needs can drive priorities. This is the time to step back and consider important what is most pressing. Jupiter will station direct again on December 30, 2023, at 5° Taurus 34’.

Jupiter correlates the growth factor and how we self-actualize through the years. The 12-year cycles of Jupiter are the “chapters” of our lives. You can get a reality check by looking back twelve years ago. The details will be different, but the process will be the same. 

Jupiter corresponds to 

• Nature and Natural Law
• Shamanism and connection to what is greater than ourselves
• Intuition
• The right brain
• Creative self-actualization
• Our belief system and the undulating flow of collective beliefs
• Wisdom
• Faith
• Truth, but often personal truth.

Love Yourself

Venus, the planet of relationships, ingressed Cancer yesterday, May 7, 2023. It will travel through the Moon’s sign until June 5^th. Venus rules two signs of the zodiac. Her outer Yang rulership is expressed through the sign of Libra. Her inner Yin rulership is expressed through the sign of Taurus. Libra brings us into a relationship with others. Taurus brings us into a relationship with ourselves. At the ingress, Mercury, the Sun, Uranus, Asteroid Astraea, and the Lunar North Node all occupy the sign of Taurus. The predominance of six astrological points in Taurus and the Moon’s rulership of Venus suggests that the next thirty days should be focused on our self-development, self-nurturing, and self-forgiveness.

We have come through a strenuous, challenging pair of eclipses. Use the next month to regroup emotionally. A grand trine to Venus from Saturn in Pisces and the Lunar South Node in Scorpio advocates taking responsibility for ourselves with a renewed understanding of what has rattled our cages. Ceres stationed direct in Virgo provides strong support for shamanic journeying down into our underworld to work on what has been sequestered there.

Pluto applies to a partile inconjunct to Venus, necessitating a course change in the direction we intend to go. This does not imply letting go of our intentions, only reconsidering how we are going about it or the expectations we might have regarding when those intentions will manifest. The Lunar Nodes are slowly moving into orb of a square with Pluto. This condition is known in Evolutionary Astrology as a “skipped step.” Something from the past has been neglected, skipped over, and left unresolved, impacting the frictionless unfolding of the future. A grand cross is drawn in the sky as Pluto squares Jupiter conjunct Eris and opposes Mars, conjunct Black Moon Lilith. The current meetup of Jupiter and Eris in Aries will initiate a restlessness that may impede progress in the long run. The incidents of strife and discord will widen. Mars and Lilith are a volatile combination of anger, aggression, and outlaw behavior. 

Cancer is about safety and security. Taurus is the recognition of what is essential for survival. If the last few years have taught us anything, it is that no one is coming to save us. We must save ourselves. The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat sustain us. It can either make us sick or make us healthy. Mars in Cancer is encouraging us to make healthy choices. 

Ancient Hopi prophesy tells us that we are experiencing cataclysms because Mankind has gone out of balance with Nature. The Earth is creating climate change. A simple medicine is available to us to reconnect with the cosmos. Find someplace with no city light for an evening or even longer and gaze at the night sky. The brilliance of infinity surrounds us. It is cosmic penicillin.

And other current astrological weather

On May 5, 2023, at 1:34 pm EDT, a penumbral lunar eclipse will occur at 14° Scorpio 58’. It will be visible over Africa, Asia, and Australia. This eclipse belongs to Saros series 141. The last eclipse in this series occurred in April 2005. 

I detailed the events of April 2005 and the major news events leading up to this eclipse in my last YouTube forecast. 

The primary significance of this eclipse is the conjunction of the Sun and Uranus in Taurus. One person says, “It’s Uranus,” and another says, “What did you call me!?” Often the words we use have meanings and understandings that are different from others. Messages get garbled in misunderstandings. Communications break down or get misinterpreted. We must remember that not everyone has the same ideas, understandings, beliefs, values, priorities, and agendas as we do. All of these things can run at cross purposes. 

Pluto continues to play an important role in this lunation. Pluto was in a crisis square to the Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse. At the Scorpio Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, Pluto is the planetary ruler of the lunation. Additionally, Pluto is standing still, having stationed retrograde only three days earlier on May 1^st. Mercury stationed retrograde one day after the solar eclipse and underscores both eclipses.  Pluto’s retrograde cycle lasts many months longer and accesses deep recesses within our psyches. Regressing through the zodiac, Pluto will end its brief foray into Aquarius on June 11 and re-enter Capricorn until it turns direct again on October 10. Pluto will not return to Aquarius until January 2024.

A Scorpio Moon runs hot below the surface “on a good day.” With Pluto in retrograde condition, hidden agendas percolate to the surface and boil over. Perceived slights and misunderstandings spin-off anger, resentment, envy, and suspicion. Emotions are heavy with challenging conversations with ourselves and others. The news media continues to be saturated with uncomfortable revelations. We are challenged to distill our immediate wants and desires into what is essential. Random, self-centered acts of violence continue to punctuate the news.

All the events activated at the Aries New Moon culminate at this full moon. Major changes occur. What has been steadily brewing below surfaces with dramatic impact and longevity. A full moon is always about finding the balance between two opposing forces needing to find a center ground. A lunar eclipse is this event on steroids. Look for compromises agreeable to all parties. Be flexible and willing to meet others halfway.  Let emotions come from the heart space, not the headspace. Silence the repertoire in your head. Listen carefully to what others are saying. Allow events to unfold in their way by accepting “what is” rather than straining for some expectation of what “should or must be.” The full moon seeks unity in diversity. Allow change to occur without fear of the outcome.
